Who, ME?

When I was in kindergarten, all of my classmates would pile up in the front hallway from getting off the bus to meet our teacher and have her take us to class. Each day while assembling in a “single-file line”, Mrs. Daily would choose one of the kids to come to the front of the line, hold her hand, and lead the students down the hallway. Every morning when she appeared, each kid would try to be on their best behavior in order to be picked for this noble position. One day, my turn finally came. As she scanned down our single-file row, her eyes stopped on me and she reached out herhand announcing, “Class, today Paige will be our line leader.” My face beamed. I proudly placed my hand in hers and stepped forward, feeling a new rush of responsibility and honor. As my class marched down the hall behind me, my heart swelled with pride over the leadership I was given in those early morning minutes…

  1. Wow! That was awesome! While reading this, I am reminded that I want to be a leader. Some of my long term goals are to be a leader in one way or another. Many people have told me that those goals are not realistic goals, but I’m not “Young and Naive.” I can set my own goals and try to achieve them. Michaelangelo said, “The greater danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it.” I am not afraid to dream big. I plan to aim high all my life.
